Yala Mandala is not just a manufacturing facility, it's an artisan village. Comprising of a gallery, cafe, arts residency and several handicraft workshops, Yala's founder Pravin Chitrakar is on a long-term mission to improve the quality of Nepali handicrafts. By combining innovative design with heritage techniques, Pravin is able to adapt artisanal Nepali products to the international market, and in turn create better jobs for locals in the region. Today Yala trains men and women in the community with different artisanal skills, offering them stable employment, fair wages and a rewarding work environment.
Yala produces a variety of sustainable products, including knitwear, handmade metal jewelry, natural buttons, and paper products used for eco-friendly packaging. Visitors to this unique social enterprise can tour the village, sip a cool drink in the traditional courtyard, browse products, and possibly even attend a vegan dinner in the space.
We proudly work with Yala Craft, the knitting and weaving unit, to produce our cashmere sweater collection. Pravin still personally oversees our entire manufacturing process from start to finish, ensuring high quality products, looking after his team of artisans, and hunting for new ethical raw materials to offer his clients.

We use 100% 12 gauge 2/26 NM luxury cashmere for all of our sweaters. These fibres are natural, renewable and biodegradable, Our cashmere collection is Certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. This means that our yarns and dyes are tested and proven to be free of 100 of the most toxic chemicals used by the fashion industry - chemicals that could have harmful effects on the environment and your skin (gross!).
Our cashmere also gets softer with each wear and wash. You might be surprised to learn that most of the world's highest quality cashmere isn't actually so soft to the touch in the very beginning. To appeal to the mass market, many manufacturers will actually run their cashmere through extra chemical and wash cycles to create a softer hand-feel upfront. We prefer to keep our cashmere authentic. Cashmere naturally softens over time, which means that your cosy investment piece will only get better and better over the weeks, months and even years.
We produce all of our premium cashmere sweaters with Yala Mandala. Each item is made by skilled artisans in small production runs. Subtle variations and imperfections in the yarns are considered a trademark of artisanal craftsmanship and the unique beauty of each product.
To keep your cashmere looking beautiful for as long as possible, we recommend washing it by hand in cold water and laying it flat to air dry. Don't have time for hand-wash? Your cashmere can also be dry-cleaned (by an environmentally-friendly dry cleaner whenever possible).
Gently use a cashmere comb from time to time to remove any pilling that occurs in high friction areas
