What Makes It Special
Merino wool is a fine, soft fibre with a pretty impressive resume. For starters it's anti-bacterial, anti-odour, breathable, renewable and biodegradable. As a natural insulator, merino wool keeps you warm in winter by trapping air between its fibres. And it's also cooling and comfortable in summer thanks to its extremely fine fibres. Bonus points, this wool doesn't itch.
No Museling
Mulesing consists of removing a strip of skin from a sheep's backside, often without any anesthesia or antibiotics. Farmers argue that this makes them less likely to attract blowflies, and reduces the incidence of parasitic larvae. We do not agree with this painful and dangerous practice. At Les Sublimes we select high-quality wool that respect a sheep's well-being and do not inflict suffering.
Low Impact Italian Processing
Our merino wool is spun and dyed in Piedmont, Italy, in a mill committed to reducing its use of chemicals and water consumption. Our wool is free of substances traditionally used in textiles that can be harmful to the skin and to the environment, such as azo dyes, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium, nickel and lead.
