Parisian fashion startup Les Sublimes challenges the conventional sustainable fashion model with their revolutionary concept of “No Compromise Consumption”

Based in Paris, online-only ladies’ clothing brand Les Sublimes offers an innovative approach to sustainable fashion that gives worldly millennials exactly what they are looking for: beautiful wardrobe essentials that also happen to be affordable, luxurious and responsibly-made. Their philosophy insists that conscious shoppers can have it all. And they want to disrupt the outdated industry model to prove it.
“People are becoming increasingly aware of the dark side of the traditional clothing industry, especially within fast fashion. They see the effects on the environment, on the workers - and they don’t want to be part of it”, says co-founder Alexis Assoignon, a former fashion Account Executive in New York. ”Integrity shouldn’t be a tradeoff.”
Assoignon says Les Sublimes was born out of a personal frustration that there were barely any sustainable brands to choose from. She wanted to give people a desirable alternative.
Les Sublimes aims to rebrand sustainable apparel with a stylish, modern aesthetic, while contradicting the widely held belief that organic and fair-trade must come at a hefty premium. And contrary to the custom of offering ever-changing seasonal collections, the brand offers a permanent assortment of favorite pieces that build on one another to create the perfect wardrobe - their first styles are all made sustainably in France.
In fact, the French e-tailer prefers to call itself a responsible brand, not limiting their positive initiatives to any single cause. Instead they proudly produce their entire collection responsibly and transparently. Every Les Sublimes product is manufactured from start to finish with the intention to preserve the planet’s delicate ecosystems and to improve the livelihoods of workers throughout their supply chain.
According to co-founder Kachen Hong, previously a consultant in sustainable consumption, Les Sublimes also builds on the growing demand from millenials to connect on a deeper level.
“I see a real desire for people to support brands that align with their convictions and empower them towards their higher purpose,” says Hong. “We all want to make a difference. But we struggle with how. Being sublime,” she explains, “is about leading a thoughtfully-curated, conscious lifestyle. We create products that support your values and your wildest dreams, as much as they enhance your style. Clothing that leaves you feeling beautiful on the inside and out.”
By engaging directly with supporters online and using creative manufacturing channels, Les Sublimes is able to make their sustainable products available to a much larger audience, at a more affordable price. And they believe that this will translate into a greater positive impact on the world around them.
To further their global impact, for every piece sold, Les Sublimes will pay it forward by giving one month of education to a young girl in need. They believe that educating girls is the best way to end poverty permanently. One piece. One Month.
On Tuesday Les Sublimes announced that it would be raising $10,000 EUR in funds via a rewards crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to finish production of their first Made in France ladieswear collection. The campaign launches Tuesday, June 21st.
